LIDDED BOX
Period: Eastern Zhou.Date: Possibly Spring and Autumn period.
Medium: Nephrite jade.
Colour: Yellow.
Dimensions: L. 12.8 cm.; W. 9.5 cm.; H. 6 cm.
The entire surface of the box and lid is decorated with dragons and spiraling cloud patterns. The lid has a loop with a loose ring through it. Each corner of the box is supported by a phoenix standing on a ring, with wings spread.
The surface of the jade is altered, showing patches of dissolution and encrustation, particular on the bottom and inside surfaces.
