RUYI  - Lingzhi with boys

Period: Qing dynasty (1644 - 1911)
Date: 18th century
Medium: Nephrite jade
Colour: Pale greyish white with some russet inclusions
Dimensions: L. 46.5 cm; W. 16 cm.

The word ruyi translates as ''as you wish'', and was a symbol of power and authority..
The head of the ruyi is in the form of a large lingzhi or fungus of immortality.  The long stem is covered in smaller lingzhi and two young boys play around it.
